Like it Hot 1959

This is a creative assignment. The year is 1959, and you have become a censor for the Motion Picture Association of America. Your first job is to review and censor a new controversial film, Some Like it Hot. You have heard rumours that this film is scandalous, and you will be busy listing scenes that break the Hays Code.

After completing the general reading about the Hays Code above, you should carefully read the “particular applications” linked below. This is the list of specific banned scenes, images and themes banned by the Hays Code. Hays Codes – Particular Applications.pdf Download Hays Codes – Particular Applications.pdf

Next, you should watch the film, Some Like it Hot, with a copy of the particular applications next to you. Your goal is to choose one scene from the film that, in your opinion, clearly breaks the Hays Code. You will need to provide screenshots as proof of violation(s) and include a brief explanation of which part of the code is being broken. You should write these in the style of a report to the Motion Picture Association of America, which will ultimately censor the film.

Specifically, your assignment is worth 30 points and should:

Identify a specific scene from Some Like it Hot that breaks the Hays Code. Your scene should contain a clear violation as defined by the Hays Code. You must provide a screenshot of the key part of the scene. (10 points)
Identify which part of the Hays Code is being broken using the Particular Applications attachment above. You should quote the part of the code you are using. (10 points)
You should include a brief 1 paragraph / 250-word “report” explaining why your scene breaks the Hays Code. Remember you are an employee of the MPAA and are expected to be conservative in your judgment. (10 points)
Your assignment is due by Monday, November 22 at 10 am and should be submitted here.

please follow all the instructions thank you
