This week you will debate with your peers, providing an opportunity to present opposing views, opinions, and research on a topic.  Students will be divided up into two groups – Pro versus Con groups. If your last name begins with a letter from A to K, you will be in the Pro group and will post in favor of the prompt. If your last name begins with a letter from L to Z, you will be in the Con group and will post as opposed to the prompt.

The prompt is: “Currently healthcare informatics mostly rely on data science for presenting better outcomes. And so, existing healthcare professionals are not sufficiently qualified, and lack the required knowledge to manage the 3 V challenges – volume, velocity, and variety – of big data” (Pramanik et al., 2020, section 7).

Taking your opposing or in favor view, initial posts should address the topic, what skills are needed to integrate and use analytic systems, the procedures needed to manage health information systems, what to seek for a positive return on investment (ROI), and what you learned from the article. Use competing facts, figures and assumptions.

Your initial posting should be 250-500 words[supanova_question]

I have an assignment about Twitter/API using Python. The idea is to record the tweets and cleaning text from URL / Retweets and so on. I have it partially done but I need help in these things:
1-Write a function to tokenized the cleaned text. Remove common stop words
and tokens less than 3 characters long from the resulting tokens. The
function’s output should be the filtered set of tokens.
2-Write a function to perform stemming on the cleaned tokens.
3-. Also, write a separate function to perform lemmatization on the cleaned
tokens (not stemmed tokens).

Build on something interesting or provocative that your classmate wrote.

Explain why and how you see things differently.

Ask a probing or clarifying question.

Share your understanding of your classmate’s posting in your words.

Offer and support an opinion with peer-reviewed sources or industry best practices.

Expand on your classmate’s posting by providing constructive feedback.

Keep in mind that you’re expected to engage critically and not editorially (this is important to remember when we’re discussing “hot” or controversial topics). Work to demonstrate your understanding of the material from this module and, where necessary, include your sources, formatted and cited in accordance with APA 7

Manage Discussion Entry

Hello class,

I am on the opposing side for this week’s prompt, and this post will discuss the ways in which healthcare informatics does not only rely on data science.

While data driven analytics is important for the field of healthcare informatics, healthcare ultimately relies on patient-centered care, and thus, patient driven interaction. The impersonalization of care is one criticism of healthcare driven through information and technology (HITC Staff, 2016). Although the patient may become more involved in their care through access through patient portals, electronic medical records, and prescription management, their care is effectively placed in the hands of data and algorithms rather than a doctor sitting down with a patient in real time. That means that, although providers and healthcare workers may use healthcare information technology (HIT) to help deliver services and care, it is still vitally important that patient interaction remains integral to a patient visit.

Pramanik et al. (2020) admit that because of the inherent difficulties of coding for human factors, designing analytics which are effective, and reflective of healthcare trends is challenging. Even with big data, machine learning, and sensors, and wearable technologies, developers and researchers must rely on patient and user feedback on the systems in order to improve analytics and data collection.

In addition, the healthcare informatics and analytics (HCI&A) field is sociotechnical, drawing talent from a variety of disciplines spanning computer science to the hard sciences, and even business (Pramanik et al., 2020). While data does drive many of these disciplines, other factors and experiences also augment the data such as customer experience, project management, sales, and marketing and advertisement.

As more and more healthcare companies and providers implement healthcare informatics technologies into patient diagnostics and health management, it is vital to consider that the patient is a human, not just a set of numbers and code.

Manage Discussion Entry

Hello,

This one is a little difficult for many reasons. 1st I went to  the Patient Outreach and got a page not found, (2021)… Then I went to calculate BMI and the information is from an out of date data base,(2021). We as people have gotten bigger and the information doesn’t include lifestyle or build. I’m 6’1″ and 251lb as of this morning. According to this I am 33%=obese. I don’t know many obese people that have visible abs. (not to brag) . Next I went to the Your disease risk,(2021), and took the test. I personally have High Cholesterol and elevated blood pressure, these are directly corelated to heart disease and stroke. But this test says I have above average for Lung Cancer (where I answered Never Smoked), and below average for heart disease and stroke. Doesn’t not make since.

The part that made since was the Starting the Conversation,(2021), page. This is a very important talk to have with people that are ill and have life threatening diseases, or later in life. Many times people are unwilling to put in perspective that your loved ones will die one day. This has led to many family disagreements and in my experience in the hospital, physical altercations. Know their wishes and what the reality is of the treatments you are accepting.

Finally trying to find a second topic I went to the State Specific Health Care Quality Information Map from AHRQ,(2021), to get a better guide on where certain state excel and others fall. But this page did not pull up and gave a 404 error. Not sure what happened.

All these resources try to give education to the patient and the family member to help them have more general knowledge and comfortability with uncertain topics. Healthcare is a complicated and diverse field. Having the ideas of what to watch out for and where to go for answers or treatments for that specific diagnosis is great information. Us as healthcare providers or administration within a facility of sorts, we can help with education through handouts or talking about topics to help clear up the confusion with the patients and loved ones. The people that would benefit the most from having help of a brief discussion with about particular health topics would be the people that have higher health risks like smoking or excessive alcohol consumption. But ever person walking into a clinic, hospital, outpatient surgery center, or anywhere where medical treatments can be given is a great person to help become more knowledgeable of the options that they have and may not know about.

Health Care Delivery Models and Nursing Practice

Examine changes introduced to reform or restructure the U.S. health care delivery system. In a 1,000-1,250 word paper, discuss action taken for reform and restructuring and the role of the nurse within this changing environment.

Include the following:

Outline a current or emerging health care law or federal regulation introduced to reform or restructure some aspect of the health care delivery system. Describe the effect of this on nursing practice and the nurse’s role and responsibility.

Discuss how quality measures and pay for performance affect patient outcomes. Explain how these affect nursing practice and describe the expectations and responsibilities of the nursing role in these situations.

Discuss professional nursing leadership and management roles that have arisen and how they are important in responding to emerging trends and in the promotion of patient safety and quality care in diverse health care settings.

Research emerging trends. Predict two ways in which the practice of nursing and nursing roles will grow or transform within the next five years to respond to upcoming trends or predicted issues in health care.

You are required to cite to a minimum of three sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and relevant to nursing practice.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.[supanova_question]

Choose a family to assess and ask to meet with them to complete the family consent form. Complete a windshield survey of the community where the family lives. All further information for discussion boards and assignments will be about this “chosen family”. Do not post any personal identifying information regarding the family. Call your family “Family A” Do not post any information about your own personal family.

Required Textbook Readings in Stanhope & Lancaster

Read Chapter 12 – Use the guideline on pg. 212, table 12.3 for the assignment  (ALL MOs)

Have someone drive you around the community or walk the community during the day.

Using the guideline on page 212, table 12.3 answer the appropriate questions pertaining to the community providing a final analysis of improvements that could be made to the community.

Submit a two -five page paper of the windshield survey.

Use headings and prepare the paper using APA 7th edition.

Provide references as necessary.

Assignment – Windshield Survey

Guideline for windshield survey. Answer the questions that are appropriate to the family’s community.

Each community has its own characteristics. These characteristics, along with demographic data, provide valuable information in understanding the population that lives within the community and the health status, strengths and limitations, risks, and vulnerabilities unique to the “population of interest.” Once you have defined a “community of interest” to assess, a windshield survey is the equivalent of a community head-to-toe assessment. The best way to conduct a windshield survey is to have a designated driver and at least one other passenger to scan the outline and take notes. Having one pair of eyes on the road, you can benefit from having several other individuals noticing the unique characteristics of the community and a shared experience provides additional insight. As you analyze your findings, it may be necessary to make a second tour to fill in any blanks. Many of us take these characteristics for granted, but they provide a rich context for understanding communities and populations and have significant impact on the health status of the community in general. You will report your findings in practicum conference and use relevant findings in your Community Problem Analysis paper, so collect your findings and analysis in a useful format.
