The Case Study presents Mark’s 3D printing business and explains how he wants to expand his operation with more IT infrastructure and additional employees. He has asked you to help him better understand what he currently has and what he will need to create the business he envisions. You realize that although he already has several hardware and network components in use, he really does not have any idea how to expand into a larger operation. You decide to begin with what he has, what his requirements are, and what components he will need to meet his requirements.

Assignment:

Using the Case Study and course materials, your task is to write a paper to Mark that includes the following:

Background – briefly describe the business to be supported by the new infrastructure.

Current IT infrastructure – List the hardware, software, and network components that Mark currently has in place (not what he wants to add with his “Expansion Plan”). Note that you may need to make some assumptions about the components based on what is provided in the Case Study.

Requirements – List five requirements Mark has identified that the systems will have to perform or support as he expands his business. These can be “business” needs or part of the 3D printing operation.

How requirements will be met – Briefly explain to Mark what system components will be needed to meet each of the five requirements listed above. These may be components he already has or new components to be added.

Data representation and storage – Finally, Mark needs to store and use several types of data: digital and numerical, audio, video and graphics data. Explain to him how each of these types of data are represented in digital form, how they are stored, and on which device(s) (either in place or something he needs to add) each type of data will be stored. Include each of the following:

Domestic violence policy implementation determines its effectiveness. A wrong implementation process increases the susceptibility of law or policy towards being futile. For instance, domestic violence is considered an illegal act as per the dictations of chapter 50 of the Carolina State laws. The aggrieved party has the constitutional right to sue the perpetrators of the offense in a court of law. The implementation process of the law powers the success of suing an individual. Healthcare organizations, courts of law, and police officers or law enforcement agencies are at the forefront to ensure the implementation of domestic violence policy is successful. Therefore, this essay aims to discuss the indicators of implementation success, assess the variation points in the implementation process, analyze possible reasons for the variations, and recommend areas for improvements.

Identification of the indicators of implementation effectiveness

Indicators are the signposts that visibly help the members of the public and relevant stakeholders track the progress of the domestic violence policy. Much of the implementation effectiveness is focused on improving quality of life. Issuance of protection orders for the victims of domestic violence is one of the indicators. Its quality results include enhancing the greater capacity of independence and has proved most welcomed by the petty offenders of the crime (Dowling et al., 2018). The outcome is that the minor offenders in the history of crime have changed their behaviors once they were issued with the orders.

The second indicator includes a change in operational systems. These changes include; the police officers’ ability to annually record domestic violence cases and compare the numbers every year. According to Goodmark (2018), the tracking of the reported instances helps divert legal, financial, and social resources towards preventing and providing safety to the victims of domestic violence. The process quality results of the change in the operating system are its quality in delivering the recorded numbers and acting effectively. The outcome of the indicator is its integration into the daily operations of the police. Meaning, after the victims report the cases, the law enforcement agencies or health agencies need to offer physical, emotional, and psychological support. The perpetrators should also be arrested, and dire consequences should befall them according to the law. By so doing, the number of reported cases should decrease when a comparison is made annually, indicating that the change in the operating system is effective and fruitful.

The third indicator is the increased nursing training towards understanding and reporting domestic violence abuse. Spotting domestic violence at times is difficult, especially in most situations where the offenders threaten the victims. Domestic violence is categorized as a global health problem, with the primary victims being children and nurses. The process quality result ensures that the nurses, women, and children are satisfied with the process and engaged with the program. Nurses should be well trained on how to deal with domestic violence cases and work in conjunction with the police officers to report the issues. According to Alshammari et al. (2018), most victims of domestic violence report to hospitals than law enforcement agencies. Therefore, the policy’s success also depends on the relationship the enforcement agencies will have with the healthcare facilities and track down the perpetrators of the crime. Assessment of the points of variations in the implementation of the policy

Implementation of the policy varies across all levels in the implementation system. The points of variations include policy adoption, generation of alternative options, and the evaluation of the policy. These variations depend on the roles and positions of the system level or organizational level. The different organizations implementing this policy have different outcomes. The outcomes are also based on the process itself. The policy has diverse goals and specific objectives, which makes it possible to see the various variations. Analysis of the possible reasons for the observed variations

Variations come as a result of the legal frameworks, institutional influences, specific events, and responsibilities. These variations also arise due to a different approach by the state of Carolina towards enacting the law. According to Buzawa et al. (2017), the government has emphasized a lot in eradicating the domestic violence issue through legislation and incorporation of the justice system, defining its legal framework. Meaning, the justice system, which is the court of law, is mandated with the sole responsibility of evaluating and executing the policies formulated by the legislative arm of the government. Therefore, the court system is explicitly required to sentence the perpetrators to serve the terms in jail depending on the magnitude of the offense.

Specific events act as a reason for the observed variations because it answers the question on what is to be achieved by which organization. With a close reference to the policy field map, self-directed domestic violence can lead to suicidal cases and self-abuse. Therefore, to avoid suicide and self-abuse, the healthcare organization steps in to help in this situation. According to Wachter et al. (2019), when these victims visit healthcare organizations for therapeutic medication, they are educated on avoiding and addressing the challenge of self-abuse rather than using violence. As indicated earlier, each organization has its responsibility, which other organizations cannot oversee. Likewise, the goal to be achieved will also depend on the action to be taken. It will be unethical for a police officer to arrest and detain an individual who is suicidal without taking them for counseling. Therefore, not all cases of violence are charged and prosecuted. The nature of the violence matters. The policy field map provides three types of violent circumstances: interpersonal, collective, and self-directed violence. Whatever is needed to be achieved depending on the nature of the violence will highly define the variability in the implementation process.

Recommendations for improvement

Based on the previous assignments, domestic violence is still prevalent and seems far from being eradicated. Therefore, to improve on it, the healthcare staff need to be highly trained to execute their roles effectively. The survivors of domestic violence in the healthcare sector are still released to go back and stay with their violent partners. The government should also locate resources towards establishing a center for hosting those who are victims of the violence. There is a need to increase the number of social workers who can work at the community level and provide adequate statistics to the government on the prevalence of violence. The justice system is also loaded with many cases regarding domestic violence, hence slowing the implementation process. Therefore, to improve the matter, the government can develop specific days for hearing the cases or still construct family courts responsible for hearing only domestic violence cases.

Conclusion

Domestic violence policy’s effectiveness relies on its implementation process. The implementation process considers the police officers, healthcare organizations, and court systems as the primary players in eradicating domestic violence. Some of the indicators of the effectiveness of the implementation process include a change in the operational systems, increased training to the nurses, and issuance of protection orders. The implementation varies depending on the organization executing the policy and the desired outcome. The nature of the violence also leads to the variance in the policy formulation. However, the government still needs to improve on increasing the expertise of the nurses handling survivors of domestic violence, employ more social workers, establish family courts and construct a center for hosting the victims and survivors of the violence.
