Setting Up a New Project in NoodleTools
Creating a NEW PROJECT. Go to the Library’s Psychology Research Guide page at http://libguides.elcentrocollege.edu/psychology and scroll down , looking at the RIGHT side of the page, until you see NoodleTools. This is a software program that will ensure your citation is done correctly. I have included a step-by-step instruction document for using NoodleTools along with this guide to doing your Term Assignment. Follow the steps IN ORDER.
Click on NEW PROJECT (see the following page).
Saving older citations into Publication Manual 7th Edition Style. Click the NoodleTools link and select APA Citation Format (ADVANCED) to use for your citation. You MAY encounter the following screen FIRST IF you already have a NoodleTools account. If you HAVE AN EXISTING ACCOUNT, simply click the CONVERT IT NOW to 7th edition formatting button, then click CONTINUE in the lower right corner.
If you do NOT already have an account, you will be taken to the screen shown on the following page.
Setting up a NEW PROJECT. Click the NEW PROJECT button, then give your project a name, such as “PSYC Term Project.” Under CITATION STYLE, click APA, then under CITATION LEVEL, click Advanced. Click the SUBMIT button.
Select appropriate Project Title.
When this window appears, click on the appropriate Project Title, such as APA Abstract Assignment or PSYC Term Project, depending on what you named this project.
Select SOURCES to begin a new citation.
That will open a new, blank window. 4. Click on SOURCES.
Clicking on SOURCES will open the next step which is to actually create your citation.
Click NEW SOURCE.
Indicate LOCATION of your source (WHERE is your article located?)
Click on DATABASE. The reason for selecting DATABASE is that the articles selected for your use were located in an Online Psychology Database.
SPECIFIC LOCATION of your Article within a Database. This will open a new window. Click on JOURNAL.
Clicking on JOURNAL will take you to the following screen.
Indicate the DOI for your article.
Leave this box checked as you WILL NOT USE THE INFORMATION IT REFERENCES. The DOI for the article below is in the upper right corner of the example article indicated on Page 10 (below); copy-and-paste the DOI into the first box as indicated here. You will likely have to SEARCH the first couple of pages in your article to locate the DOI. DOIs look like this: https://doi.org/10.1007/s11469-020-00281-5
Indicate the AUTHOR(S) of your article IN THE ORDER of their presentation.
Fill in the blanks on this screen by looking for the appropriate information on the copies below of an article I have used in another class. If your article has more than one author, click the ADD CONTRIBUTOR button for each additional author.
ORDER of AUTHORS NAMES in your Citation. There are THREE AUTHORS of this example article; enter them IN THE ORDER THEY APPEAR on the article, that is, Michael Rutter, followed by Julia Kim-Cohen, and Barbara Maughan. DO NOT CHANGE THE ORDER OF THE AUTHORS’ NAMES. Changing the order of authors’ names is PLAGIARISM and WILL result in a ZERO on your assignment.
Locations of Information in your Article. You will record these components in the box for inserting information: ARTICLE TITLE, NAME OF JOURNAL, VOLUME NUMBER (47), ISSUE NUMBER (3), YEAR PUBLISHED (2006), & PAGE NUMBERS (276-295). The DOI is here.
Indication of TITLE of article. Continue entering information as requested. Note that the TITLE of the article has specific rules for capitalisation. When you click in the Title Box, you will see a pop-up window that tells you which letters should or should not be capitalised.
Copy-and-paste the name of the Journal, the Volume, Issue, Year of Publication, and page numbers from your article. Note that the positions of this information WILL CHANGE from one journal to another, but the information you need here SHOULD be on the FIRST PAGE of the article. If you have difficulty locating the information you need, ASK ME AND I WILL HELP YOU FIND IT. A correctly completed citation should look as below. The rest of the citation is on the following page. CONTACT YOUR INSTRUCTOR IF YOU NEED HELP.
NoodleTools indication of INCORRECT CAPITALISATION.
After filling in the blanks, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the SAVE button in the upper right. Your completed citation will appear as indicated below. What you see below is a page of my own citations as listed in NoodleTools. Your citation could look like any one of them.
Completed List of NoodleTools Citations for your Project.
Printing and Exporting your Citation. Click the PRINT/EXPORT button, and select PRINT/EXPORT TO WORD or RTF. Your citation will AUTOMATICALLY open in MS WORD.
Using NoodleTools OPTIONS. If you click on the OPTIONS button you will open a small menu where you can select EDIT (to make corrections to your citation if needed) and IN-TEXT REFERENCE which will show you how to do a parenthetical citation within your document.
DO NOT INDICATE PAGE NUMBERS in your in-text citations. Page numbers are used ONLY when making direct quotes, and you are NOT PERMITTED to use direct quotes in this class.
Opening your EXPORTED file in MS WORD or RTF. After clicking the Print/Export to Word option, your file will automatically open in Microsoft WORD. You may then copy the complete citation and paste it onto your References page. Be SURE to CHANGE THE FONT AND SIZE of your citation match to that in the rest of your document. See below for how a References page in APA Style should look. YOUR References page will have ONLY ONE CITATION as you have ONLY ONE SOURCE for your work.[supanova_question]

First you must think of yourself as a reporter: answer, in narrative form, the questions: Who was performing? Where was the performance, What pieces were performed? How was the audio and video quality? How might this performance experience as an audience member differ from being there in person? Then write your opinion of the concert: how well was the program conceived? Did the different pieces seem to fit or were they contrasting? Did you like the choice of piece(s)? How good was the performance? Was it accurate? Did it sound like there were any wrong notes or out of tune playing/singing or anything else that seemed not quite right? Did you like the performance? Did it move you? End the review with whether you would recommend this to anyone else and why.[supanova_question]
