Methodology section

My survey which is about happy citizens consists of 12 questions. I collected primary data myself. The first 3 questions were about self-questions to get information from participants. All other questions were determined to get their level of satisfaction about their country. I created an online survey, using qualitative questions to analyze their opinions. I used the qualitative method because about my topic, I need to get their opinions and which opinions can describing by words. One question at the end of the survey which was open/end questions helped me to get their own insight. I have 4 research questions:

RQ1 Economic factors play main role?

RQ2 How cultural differences effect people happiness?

RQ3 Genetic inheritance effect people happiness? How?

RQ4 How basic needs effect people happiness?

After the survey results, I analysed by SPS and was able to find answers to my research questions. A total of 32 people participated in the survey. My survey’s participants were mostly students at university of south Florida. Participants were given 2 minutes to take a survey and rate satisfaction level for some questions about the country’s public services. I administered this survey at the USF area, that’s why most students participated in this survey. I faced some obstacles during the survey, people are busy and some of don’t open to spending their time answering questions. I considered this and announced this “hey it doesn’t take much time, just 2 minutes. I created a QR code that helped me to draw their attention, it was faster.[supanova_question]

To briefcases, case problems and questions, use the following “IRAC” format:

Issue: What question must be answered in order to reach a conclusion in the case? This should be a legal question which, when answered, gives a result in the particular case. Make it specific (e.g. “Has there been a false imprisonment if the plaintiff was asleep at the time of ‘confinement’?”) rather than general. Most cases present one issue. If there is more than one issue, list all, and give rules for all issues raised.

Rule: The rule is the law which applies to the issue. It should be stated as a general principal, (e.g. A duty of care is owed whenever the defendant should anticipate that her conduct could create a risk of harm to the plaintiff.) not a conclusion to the particular case being briefed, (e.g. “The plaintiff was negligent.”)

Application: The application is a discussion of how the rule applies to the facts of a particular case. While the issue and rule are normally only one sentence each, the application is normally paragraphs long. It should be written debate -not simply a statement of the conclusion. Whenever possible, present both sides of any issue. Do not begin with your conclusion. The application shows how you are able to reason on paper and is the most difficult (and, on exams, the most important) skill you will learn.

Conclusion: What was the result of the case? With cases, the text gives you a background of the facts along with the judge’s reasoning and conclusion. When you brief cases, you are basically summarizing the judge’s opinion. With case problems, the editors have given you a summary of the facts of an actual case, but have not given you the judge’s opinion. Your job is to act as the judge in reasoning your way to a ruling, again using the IRAC format.[supanova_question]

(10 pts) In slide 20 of LinkLayer ppt, we listed four desirable

(10 pts) In slide 20 of LinkLayer ppt, we listed four desirable characteristics of a broadcast channel. Which of these characteristics does slotted ALOHA have? Which of these characteristics does token passing have? Give at least one brief sentence to explain each character. Simply answering the numbers will not receive full credit.

The for characteristics are (student does not need to rephrase the following 4 characters)

When on node wants to transmit, it can send at full rate R

When M nodes want to transmit, each can send at average rate R/M

Fully decentralized: no special node to coordinate transmissions, and no synchronization of clocks or slots

Simple

The slotted ALOHA has the following characters: (for this and the next, give full credit as long as the student give reasonable explanation. I just don’t want them to put 3 numbers and be done with it.)

a. because if there is only one sender sending, there won’t be any collision and thus the sender can send at full speed.

c. the slotted ALOHA does not need any special node to coordinate the transmission, all nodes are equal.

d. the slotted ALOHA is very simple and straightforward.

The token passing has the following characters:

a. because a host can send data only if it has the token, at any given time, only one host can send data, and therefore it can send at full speed.

c. because there is not any special node to coordinate the transmission.

d. the configuration of taken passing is fairly simple (simply or not is subjective, so if student does not choose it, it is OK)

Based on the network structure in the picture below, answer the following questions.

(10 pts) Assign IP addresses to all of the interfaces. For Subnet 1 use address of the form 192.168.1.xxx, for Subnet 2 use address of the form 192.168.2.xxx, and for Subnet 3 use address of the form 192.168.3.xxx. You can freely assign addresses as long as it follows the specification and is a valid IP address.

Student can freely give IP as long as it follows the specified subnet address form, for example, Subnet 1 must start with 192.168.1.xxx. One point to check is the interfaces of the switch should not be assigned with an IP address. The following is an example, student’s answer can be different.

(10 pts) Assign MAC addresses to all of the interfaces. You can use any MAC address as long as it is a valid address.
(Note: assign IP and MAC addresses to all the interfaces that should have IP and MAC addresses. Some interface may not have IP and/or MAC addresses. Check the slides for more details.)

The same as above, as long as the student gives a MAC address with the correct format (6 Hex bytes separated by “–“ or “:”), it is considered correct. Also, the switch should not have a MAC address either.

(20 pts) Consider sending an IP datagram from Host E to Host B. Suppose all of the ARP tables are up to date. Enumerate all the steps, as done for the single-route example in slide 51. You need to clearly depict the Src/Dst MAC and Src/Dst IP all the way from E to B, as long as one of such addresses changes. You can either verbally describe, for example, “the datagram between Host E and the left router has the address …”, or you can draw on the figure.

The answer should include three parts. The specific value could be different from my answer, but they must match the IP/MAC address the student has given to the figure.

From Host E to the router on the right:

Src MAC: E’s MAC (99-99-99-99-99-99)

Dst MAC: MAC of the right interface of the router (88-88-88-88-88-88)

Src IP: E’s IP (192.168.3.1)

Dst IP: B’s IP (192.168.1.2)

From the router on the right to the router on the left:

Src MAC: MAC of the left interface of the right router. (77-77-77-77-77-77)

Dst MAC: MAC of the right interface of the left router. (44-44-44-44-44-44)

Src IP: E’s IP (192.168.3.1)

Dst IP: B’s IP (192.168.1.2)

From the router on the left to Host B:

Src MAC: MAC of the left interface of the left router (33-33-33-33-33-33)

Dst MAC: B’s MAC (22-22-22-22-22-22)

Src IP: E’s IP (192.168.3.1)

Dst IP: B’s IP (192.168.1.2)

(10 pts) Verbally explain what is the “hidden terminal problem”. You answer will be graded based on the completeness.

The hidden terminal problem is a problem specifically exist in wireless network. As shown in the following figure, both A and C are within B’s range and are able to communicate with B. However, A and C are not within each other’s range.

As a result, when A wants to communicate with B, A will not be able to find C is also communicating with B. In this case, A will start sending packets to B, which will collide with C’s packet at B’s location, causing B unable to pick either A’s or C’s packet.

You can grade based on your own discretion, can give full credit as long as student makes this point clear.

(20 pts) Consider the CDMA example in slide 18 and 19. Assume that Sender 1 sends -1, -1, and Sender 2 sends 1, -1. Assume they have the same code as shown in the slide. Demonstrate the complete encoding, transmission, and decoding procedure for Receiver 2. You must clearly show each step of calculation to receive full credit. It is not necessarily to draw the figure.

Sender 1’s code is: +1, +1, +1, -1, +1, -1, -1, -1

Sender 2’s code is: +1, -1, +1, +1, +1, -1, +1, +1

Sender 1’s data is -1, -1.

Separate above 16 bits into 2 8-bits chunk, the first 8-bits chunk sums to +8 and will be decoded into +1, and the second 8-bits chunk sums to -8 and will be decoded into -1. Until here, Receiver 2 has successfully decoded the received message into +1, -1, which is exactly what Sender 2 has sent.
