Suicide by LGBT Youths
This action plan will address the ways through which the rates of suicide in LGBT youths can be decreased.
Moran, 2011, states that: “gay adolescents are three times as likely to report a history of suicidal ideation, suicidal intent, or suicidal attempts that require medical attention than are their straight peers.” Pittman, 2011, goes further and states that: “suicide attempts were more common in LGB teens who reported being depressed and binge drinking, as well as those who had been victimized by their peers or physically abused by an adult.”
Eisenberg & Resnick, 2006, provide a list of some of the risk factors which may account for the high rate of suicides among the LGBT youths: depression, substance abuse, family conflict, ostracism at school and homophobia. However, the fact that a high majority of these youths end up having a happy, productive life may be due to the presence of some ‘resiliency factors’ which end up counteracting the risk factors. These include: family connectedness and acceptance, teacher caring, other adult caring and school safety.
The unconditional acceptance and support of family members, friends and members of their community act as a type of protective barrier for the LGBT youths. The fact that they are able to openly discuss their fears and/or any problems they may have, can lower the stress they feel and thus decrease the amount of negative and suicidal thoughts they may have. Moreover, the open acceptance helps impede any rampant discrimination and homophobia.
Schools should encourage acceptance through setting up of gay-straight alliances and policies discouraging homophobia. These would foster feelings of safety for the youths and decrease stresses related to bullying.

The Devil’s Highway
The immigrants have been faced by numerous challenges as they try to cross over to another country in search of refuge, many have lost their lives due to harsh conditions in the deserts or crossing the sea, while others are arrested in the border and deported back to their countries. The novel was written by Luis Alberto Urrea, the author lays emphasis on the challenges that are faced by the refugees trying to cross over the border from Mexico to the United States. The story is based on an incident that took place in May 2001 when a group of men made a deadly attempt to cross the United States border through the desert of Arizona. They had to undergo through many challenges given the harsh conditions of the desert in the Northern part of the American border. The northern desert of Arizona is considered as a very hot desert that even the border patrol does not even travel through it. The story highlights how twelve people managed to survive the harsh conditions of the desert to enter the USA from Mexico out of twenty-six members. This was recorded as one of the biggest group of refugees to die in the border.
The story was written to shed light on various challenges of the United States of America immigration and the relationship between the US and the Mexico. The author focuses on the challenges that the immigrants face that they prefer to take a risk and cross the border in order to live the American dream. Many immigrants prefer to cross the border because they think America is better than living in Mexico. The various challenges that the immigrants faces include lack of food because of the harsh conditions in their countries. They experience challenges in the hands of the border patrols that are very strict. The author states how the border patrols overlook those who are in a bad condition due to lack of food, water and shelter, he states “If the role of the Border Patrol was to arrest the lawbreakers, they could have also helped the immigrants and prevent them from dying” (Urrea, P35). The author shows how various immigrants lost their lives in search of better lives; some were running out of their country in order to make a better life.
The other reason that leads to many Mexicans trying to cross the border is the harsh working conditions in their country, poor pay and lack of employment are some of the challenges that led to immigration to the USA. Luis Alberto states that “If only Mexico paid their workers decent wage” this shows how they struggle in their country that many youths preferred risking their lives and entering the border into the US. The author paints a picture of injustices that occurs within the desert and the border between the US and the Mexico. The theme of betrayal is seen in the story as the narrator gives a story of the Mexicans who finds themselves wrapped up in a complex system of betrayal (Urrea, P56).
The immigrants were betrayed by their country because they were not offered means or methods of sustaining their lives. The desert and desolation is another theme that is seen in the book, as the author narrates how life was unbearable in the desert, the intense heat and the sun causes horrendous physical afflictions, some was lost and died in the desert. In conclusion, it is clear that the immigrants from Mexico and other countries faces various challenges as they try to enter the United States in search of greener pastures, many have lost their lives, others are arrested by the Border Patrol.

Decision Making in Healthcare Finance
At present, financial management plays an extremely important role in the management of any business including the healthcare sector. Generally, the functions of financial management in healthcare are planning, acquisition, and utilization of funds to maximize the value and efficiency of the industry (Kahan, 1999). The financial decision-making impacts both a healthcare quality and a continuous quality improvement in many ways. The organizations widely consider an implementation of CQI mostly because it can increase the potential of achieving the health promotion goals. In addition, it is expected that in the near future, following the procedures similar to CQI will become a requirement of government and the other funders. Although CQI does not produce any goods and is not necessarily a service, it contributes a lot to the increase of a customer satisfaction rate in the healthcare (Kahan, 1999).
The financial decision-making in healthcare should encourage collaboration among the clinical and nonclinical departments with the purpose of guiding strategic short- and long-term decisions because the cooperation in this area can bring some very positive outcomes.
Overall, the major advantages of the partnerships are its ease of formation and low costs. One of the good examples that may illustrate the concept is the American Hospital Association and its state organizations, such as the Florida Hospital Association that function as one major hospital trade association (Gapenski & Pink, 2007). In addition, there is also the American Association of Equipment Lessors, a trade group for the firms that lease various equipment to the industry of health services (Gapenski & Pink, 2007).
Since the provision of the healthcare is very much different from the rest of services, the quality outcome payment incentives are a very important influencing factor. It improves both the quality and patient experience for several reasons. First, many providers are investor-owned, yet the others are arranged as not-for-profit corporations (Gapenski & Pink, 2007). Therefore, payment for medical services depends, and typically is made by some third parties, not by patients receiving the services. In spite of this, the healthcare providers should have an appropriate incentive to promote the quality of health, rather than simply treat the emerging illness and injury since a healthier population eventually consumes fewer healthcare services.
The pressure to improve the cost-effectiveness and quality of care delivery in the healthcare organizations gradually increases. Thus, it becomes very important to develop the managerial solutions that will enable the organizations to stay profitable on the transforming market. Among the efficient managerial solutions that may transform the patient care into more positive financial outcomes, there can be named the following. First, the care delivery models should be centered around value rather that the volume of the healthcare services (GE Healthcare, 2014). Next, it would be good to connect the data across different organizations for them to have access to the patient populations (GE Healthcare, 2014). Also, the implementation of IT monitoring solutions could potentially ensure the high quality of delivered services.
One of the most critical processes that the healthcare organizations need to improve to achieve a success is the revenue cycle management. It is a financial circulatory system in the health care organization that consists of a number of clinical and administrative functions (Gapenski & Pink, 2007). These functions contribute to the management, capture, and collection of the patient service revenue. In other words, it is the full circle of life of any patient’s account. The characteristics of RCM are the use of technology to record and keep the patient claims, ensuring the collecting of payments, and addressing any denial issues. The revenue cycle starts at the moment a patient makes an appointment and lasts till the payments are collected, and it plays a very important role in the financial decision making.

Formal and Informal Language Formal language highly differs from the informal one
Formal and Informal Language
Formal language highly differs from the informal one in many ways. For example, while formal language is less personal, informal language has no limits of personality or secrecy (Flinders University of S.Aust 97). It could go to any extent at the discretion of the author. The two types of language also differ in the tone that they use, the words as well as the purpose (Flinders University of S.Aust 119). Formal language is usually used in official and purposes while informal is mostly used for personal reasons.
The two excerpt by using the parameter above to determine their type leads to the conclusion that they are different. The speech of Kennedy’s is formal in nature, while Kerouac’s narration is informal. One can tell that the language used in the excerpt of Kerouac was written for purposes that are not strictly academic. The information given by the excerpt is true and accurate, but the language in which it is expressed renders it informal.
The first excerpt on the speech of former president J.F Kennedy can be re-written into informal language. “The world has currently changed because every man has the mortal power to abolish all types of poverty. Nevertheless, the beliefs of revolution by our forefathers that human rights are given by God and not by a country are still an issue in the current generation. We should always remember that we are the beneficiaries of that revolution and therefore, it should be known that the torch of revolution has been handed over to the current generation in this century. This has been legally permitted, disciplined by peace and the pride of our ancient heritage. Therefore, there should be no one willing to undo the rights that country has always observed both locally and internationally.”
For 2.4, you provide good information about what formal and informal language are, and correctly identify the excerpts. Your rewrite of Kennedy’s speech, however, is still quite formal in nature. Consider word choice, contractions, tone, etc. to make it informal.
