Caffeine
From reading about caffeine, I learned caffeine helps get rid of salt and water through urination. Caffeine can interfere with the absorption of calcium and may increase blood pressure. Side effects from too much caffeine can include but are not limited to insomnia, anxiety, dehydration, dizziness, and an abnormal heartbeat. Groups of people who should avoid caffeine because conditions thy may have are pregnant or breastfeeding woman, people who suffer from chronic headaches and migraines included. Now just like any other drug without it you can go through withdrawals of drowsiness, headaches and nausea. Not to worry, these symptoms can go aways in just a few days, however for someone with the conditions I previously mentioned this can affect you more intensely than the average person.
Yes, I do pay attention to the amount of caffeine I put into my system, I currently work at Starbucks and when I first started, I found myself drinking caffeine more than someone my age should, whether it was tea or actual coffee itself. I also really enjoy Coke and over time it has become something I drink with most of my dinners or lunches. At first, I didn’t believe that I was addicted to caffeine because I rarely ever drank coffee then I remembered that sodas have significant amount of caffeine in them, and I stared paying attention to my behaviors of not being able to sleep and having a slight headache when not having it throughout my day. From the article I found, in the United States due to government oversight it seems as though both tap water and bottled water are equally safe to drink. The FDA oversees the process of bottling water while the EPA regulates tap water safety. I personally choose to drink bottled water however due to concerns of quality and contaminants in tap. Different factors from pipes to other ground pollutants to negligence could become hazards after the EPA has already checked the source. Since I am trying to be conscious of single use plastics my wife and I have gotten a five gallon water cooler and use that to refill our own water bottles. I also enjoy the convenience of having the water cooler to keep the water cold and it is located in our living room next to our dining table so it is an easy way to remember to drink more water without having to go to the fridge.
