Criterion 1: Academic writing

While you could write in the first person, your writing and presentation should still be at university level. Marks were lost because of:

Incorrect spelling, (centimetres – not centimeters! metres – not meters!)

Poor grammar and poor sentence structure – quite a few of you either did not edit your assignment or you need support with developing literacy skills. I suggest that if you have problems with literacy that you address this before commencing the MTeach as you will struggle to pass the mandatory literacy requirements to be a primary school teacher

Contractions of words such as ‘do not’ – ‘don’t’ and ‘would not’ – ‘wouldn’t’, are not suitable for use in academic writing

There is no such thing as dices or indeed dice’s!

The use of apostrophes needs to be carefully revisited by a large number of you.

Criterion 2: Explanations show understanding

First and foremost the assignment was a mathematics assignment and as such there should be an emphasis on the mathematical explanations and calculations.

Careful reading of the question and rubric is essential as is answering all the questions and including all parts of the assignment.

In some cases there was limited analysis of the data which was gathered

While some of you analysed the data you did not back up what you were saying with the mathematical processes and calculations, which meant that we could not check if what you were saying about the numbers was correct or that you actually understood the mathematics behind it.

Criterion 3: Mathematical calculations show understanding

Any/all explanations or statements made must be supported with the calculations and mathematical processes AND/OR vice versa.

No photos of tables or calculations are permitted, the only photo is the Yowie worksheet.

Many of you would have benefited from rewriting the calculations or redoing the drawings in the assignment as you may have identified the errors before submitting the assignment

Some calculations were easy to see, but some were ineffective in demonstrating your understanding of the mathematics as many of you omitted an explanation of the process.

Criterion 4 and 5: Mathematical language and extension to the activity

There were a large number of you who identified a number of possible extensions, but did not conduct the investigation that would have completed one of them. Completing an extension was clearly stated in tutorials many times and it was also in the learning guide.

If the extension was omitted – no marks were awarded

If the extension ideas were included but were not completed – only some marks were awarded

For the most part, the mathematical language and content was included and explained[supanova_question]

Assessment Description

Leadership studies demonstrate that the most effective leaders know how to draw upon self-leadership skills to in turn motivate and lead others to expand their strengths to ultimately better serve the goals of an organization. For this assignment, you will continue to study conscious leadership and look at a leadership example from contemporary media and evaluate how well the particular leader exemplifies the qualities of effective and ethical conscious leadership.

Select a relevant and topical leadership issue from current news media that revolves around ethics and ethical decision-making. Research the situation and gather information in order to evaluate the leader. Keep in mind, the issue that you choose will serve as the backdrop for your evaluation while using the key terms and concepts covered in your course readings. Write an evaluation of a minimum of 1,000-1,250 words of the situation that addresses the following:

The power bases used by the leader.

The influence tactics used by the leader.

The leadership style of the leader.

The outcome (or potential outcome) of the situation.

Conclude by justifying whether you think this leader supports the values of conscious capitalism. Is the leader’s leadership style effective? Do you believe the leader acted ethically in the situation? Be sure to consider each tenet of conscious capitalism in your leader evaluation.

Next, imagine yourself as a practitioner of servant leadership. You have been appointed into the leadership role in this same circumstance. Explain how the situation would be different. Address the four criteria listed above in your discussion and incorporate the principles of conscious capitalism by explaining how your personal values and style are influenced by each tenet.

Strengthen your claims in each content section of your essay with supporting citations and specific examples.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.[supanova_question]

Assignment Detail Task Description: You are required to create a 15-minute presentation

Writing Assignment Help Assignment Detail

Task Description:

You are required to create a 15-minute presentation on the new casino development that is part of the Queen’s Wharf integrated resort development (IRD) in Queensland.

In this presentation, you need to appraise this new casino development on behalf of a client, indicating whether your client supports – or does NOT support – the new casino development.

Prospective Clients

Client suggestions include the following (though you are welcome to select a different client):

Clubs Queensland (https://www.clubsqld.com.au/)

Queensland Hotels Association (https://qha.org.au)

The Alliance for Gambling Reform (http://www.pokiesplayyou.org.au/)

Star Entertainment Group (https://development.star.com.au/)

Brisbane Tourism (https://www.visitbrisbane.com.au/)

Restaurant & Catering Queensland (http://rca.asn.au/rca/queenslandnorthern-territory/)

Gabba Ward Council (https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/about-council/governance-and-strategy/lord-mayor-and-councillors/ward-office-locations)

NOTE: You need to select one (1) client only.

Alignment with the Chosen Client

In your presentation, the position you advocate on behalf of your client will either be one of support – or non-support – for the new casino development being part of Queen’s Wharf IRD.

This position must align with your client’s mission, objectives, purpose and values with regard to the new casino development.

Therefore, you should undertake research using secondary sources of information to determine the most likely position your client would adopt (ie, supporter or non-supporter of the development).

The Audience

Your presentation must persuade and advocate for the position your client will take regarding the new casino development. In doing so, you are trying to convince the audience that your client’s position is the best one for everyone to follow.

The audience will be made up of various stakeholders, some of whom will be supporters of the new development, and others who will be non-supporters.

Also in the audience will be representatives for all the other clients (from the ‘Prospective Clients’ list above).

Therefore, it is important you understand the position of these other stakeholders and clients (are they likely to be supporters or non-supporters?) so that you can defend your own client’s position, and persuade the audience that your client’s position is the best one to follow regarding the new casino development being part of Queen’s Wharf IRD.

PRESENTATION AND SUBMISSION FORMAT

This assignment does not require a face-to-face presentation. Instead, you will create a 15-minute (maximum) PowerPoint slide show with narration (as you would present this to a ‘live’ audience). If you are not familiar with recording a slide show with narration, click HERE to find the instructions.

You will need to submit one MS PowerPoint file. Please avoid making the file in a movie/video format as it tends to create a file submission issue later.

Given that people speak 100-150 words per minute, aim for an overall script within the range of 1,500-2,250 words.

GENERAL TIPS FOR PRESENTATION

List your references (sources of information) on the final PPT slide (however, do not ‘speak’ to this slide as part of your oral presentation – just show it)

Make your presentation as informative and appealing as possible

Deliver the message that is critical but commonly overlooked

Use key points, words, phrases, diagrams, etc to engage your audience

Do not type sentences on PowerPoint – written material must be succinct

Include a few high-quality graphics (eg, tables, diagrams, photographs, etc) – these make your slides more interesting and easier to follow than text alone

Avoid including movie/video clips in your file or making your file in a movie/video format. The inclusion of movie clips or a video format will enlarge your file size and will make it difficult to submit the file to Blackboard. Please ensure that you receive and keep the submission confirmation email upon your submission. [supanova_question]
