Introduction

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, covering the majority of the Arabian Peninsula, is the largest country in the Middle East with about 2,150,000 kilometers squared. 1932 was the year Saudi was founded by king Abdul-Aziz (also known as Ibn Saud) and since then the country has been ruled by a monarchy where his descendants have been inheriting his seat up till nowadays since this form was stated within their basic law, in 1992. Since king Abdullah has taken part in leading the country, he took on initiatives on several levels from social to economical to modernize the kingdom. He wanted locals to take part in the workforce rather than hiring a large percentage of foreigners, wanted to provide a higher role for woman by providing opportunities in the workplace and worked on attracting and encouraging foreign investment into the country.

The country is considered a leading producer and exporter in oil and natural gas. Petroleum was discovered on March 3rd, 1938 and since then had a real impact on the worlds’ oil and gas reserves. However, the kingdom has a vision till the year 2030, introduced in 2016, that it wants to implement a set of socio economic reforms. The company grew to realize that it cannot only depend on oil for income, since when oil was affected globally, for example when global oil price was low in 2015-2016, the country’s revenue decreased significantly leading the government to cut subsidies on several sectors such as water and electricity, compensations provided to employees in public sectors were affected, and lead to new laws and taxes be imposed. One of the main focuses has drifted to enhance tourism and increase attractions for visitors from all around the world to attend. Moving along this direction triggers various challenges encountered to apply and maintain skills that are necessary to sustain tourism practices such as focusing on training and educating a proper amount of resources. This paper will focus on how and what the kingdom might struggle with to implement the reforms.

Saudi Arabia hosts the most religious events and places. One of the annual events held is the hajj, Islamic pilgrimage in mecca, of which in a year alone has around 16-17 million visitors. Touristic areas also include red sea diving, Hijaz and Sarawat mountain and several ancient ruins in addition to conducting many events and inviting multinational artists to perform of which contributes to generating up to $25 billion.

Regulations and Laws

The kingdom is considered as an Islamic country with Islamic laws strictly enforced. Their traditions, culture, practices and customs must be respected. It is better not to offend those laws and regulations as such actions may be considered illegal specifically in occasions such as the holy month of Ramadan of which penalties may be imposed. They have a tough mentality related to the religious aspect and intend to convert non-Muslims into Muslims. It is fair to note that the authority does not mind bringing in texts or books related to other religions as long as it is practiced and used privately and for personal use.

As of September 28, 2019, Tourist e-visa has been launched and alongside new regulations have been published specifically to maintain public behavior and decency of which it is mandatory for visitors of the kingdom to familiarize themselves profoundly. Public display of affection, gestures and language that is disrespectful and even taking pictures or videos is not permitted without taking permission. Tight fitting clothing or revealing clothing is not acceptable. Noting that female travelers are not obliged to wear the traditional abaaya or robe, it is required to dress discreetly specifically in the shoulder and knees areas.

One way Saudi started displaying liberation was the act of allowing females to legally obtain and have a driving license to drive their cars, scooters and motorbike with guides from authorities to be able to attain and use it.

Severe Penalties are taken upon people with homosexual relations, adultery and being transgender. If the authorities figured this out about a person, penalties are enforced since it is considered against their Islamic beliefs and laws.

Penalties imposed or might lead to being imprisoned are the following actions which hold high consequences; possession or trade in alcohol, foreign medicine without prescriptions, possession or display of pornographic material, smuggling drugs, photographing governmental buildings and military installations, holding 2 passports, being involved in dispute with companies or individuals whom are Saudis may lead to being prevented from leaving the country until resolved, it is considered as highly red zone and illegal to criticize the government, royal family, Saudi Arabia’s flag in anyway specifically not publicly which might light to prison, penalty or even deportation for foreigners.

Another practice that might affect the society from being widely open is that many venues, restaurants, gyms and swimming pools are segregated since women cannot use the same facilities as men or swim in front of men in public beaches which Is forbidden although it is included in the vision 2030 to be implemented and have gender-mixed bathing.

There are many occasions celebrated worldwide such as valentine’s day however, it is very discouraged in the kingdom to the extent that the government bans sale of flowers, gifts or anything red related to the occasion.

Marketing

Marketing is defined as the process of which individuals or groups acquire what they want through generating, offering and exchanging products of value to other groups and individuals. Traditional advertising is being taken over by event marketing which is growing a rate of three times. Event sponsorships expenditures are increasing mainly through sales promotions, marketing communications and mix advertising.

Event Marketing can be introduced as brand promotion which is considered to be part of experiential and content marketing. Experiential and content marketing can be explained as that experiential marketing can be viewed as corporate storytelling which furthermore engages the audience while content marketing simply brings together brands message and interactive components. A desired outcome will be reached once the targeted audience are living it as a live environment and can feel what the marketers are trying to deliver. Since it mainly relies on the emotions and human brain activity. People usually remember what they feel and experience therefore emotional stimulus significantly affects the appearance of the product and service. As psychologists have proven, certain information or facts are remembered better by the brain once stimulated with emotions. Therefore, it is more memorable to experience something which will stay in the receiver mind. This is why event marketing is considered as incorporating elements from advertising, point of sale and sales promotions of which people are receptive. Companies are using this form rather than others since they observed its alternative to chaotic mass media and can reach narrow lifestyle groups whose consumption behavior can be linked with local events.

Events types can be illustrated as follows:

Large audience are attracted by entertainment arts and cultures. (examples are musical concerts, performance of celebrities, release of movies.

International sports men and women are attracted by sporting events properly organized.

Meetings and exhibitions are considered competitive specially if the participants have high profile.

Try to differentiate a product or service than that of competitor and ensure it is unforgettable.

Events such as fundraising lead to companies’ higher profile.

It is important to incorporate normal life events such as anniversaries, marriages and festivals.

Events can build proper awareness about launching new products effortlessly once used as part of a planned strategy including place, time and proper communication aiding in correlating the client’s brand personality and brand identity.

How event marketing is used in the Kingdom

By 2020, the kingdom has begun to become the essential destination for events within the middle east. As the exhibition manager at Informa middle east. Amar Daginawala said ‘’The Kingdom’s exhibition and events industry is on the rise, and the Saudi Event Show is an ideal platform for events and entertainment industry professionals to learn about the advancements and how to overcome any challenges they are experiencing in the market, The Show will provide participants with an opportunity to understand the latest trends driving the local events industry, meet and learn from the thought-provoking industry leaders and attend informative seminar sessions.”

GEA, General Entertainment Authority, are constructing a framework in order to provide entertainment services in all cities across the kingdom.

According to GEA,’’ the Kingdom will invest $64 billion in the entertainment sector over the coming decade, which proves the huge market potential for everyone in the events and entertainment industry. Saudi Arabia is the region’sjlargest untapped market in terms of events and entertainment. Therefore, advancing the MICE and entertainment sector is one of the major parts of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 reforms. The Kingdom is targeting to increase household spending on entertainment and cultural activities inside the country from 2.9 percent to 6 percent by 2030, according to its Vision 2030 National Transformation Program. The Saudi Event Show will feature more than 25 seminars and entertainment sessions, keynote speeches and panel discussions, covering everything about the Kingdom’s event industry, including market updates, visas and regulations, trends, eSports events, catering, marketing, the latest event tech, and much more. The participants will also get the chance to connect with more than 2000 events and entertainment professionals and 50 innovative exhibitors from across the industry including organizer’s entertainment professionals, marketing, PR and creative specialists, operations experts, event technology and solution providers, regulators and other stakeholders.’’

Vision 2030 – backed by the government

Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, revealed vision 2030 in the year 2016 as a platform of reform both socially and economically away from oil, and to attract foreign capital in addition to creating jobs for its citizens.[supanova_question]

Stage 2: Process Analysis

Before you begin work on this assignment, be sure you have read the Case Study and reviewed the feedback received on your Stage 1 assignment.

Overview

As the business analyst in the CIO’s department of Maryland Technology Consulting (MTC), your next task in developing your Business Analysis and System Recommendation (BA&SR) Report is toconduct a process analysis. This will identify how the current manual process is working and what improvements could be made to the process that would be supported by a technology solution.

Assignment – BA&SR: Section II.Process Analysis

The first step is to review any feedback from Stage 1 to help improve the effectiveness of your overall report and then add the new section to your report. Only content for Stage 2 will be graded for this submission. Part of the grading criteria for Stage 4 includes evaluating if the document is a very effective and cohesive assemblage of the four sections, is well formatted and flows smoothly from one section to the next. For this assignment, you will add Section II of the Business Analysis and System Recommendation (BA&SR) Report to Section I. You will conduct an analysis of the current hiring process and present information on expected business improvements. This analysis lays the ground work for Section III. Requirements of the BA&SR Report (Stage 3 assignment) which will identify MTC’s requirements for a system.

Using the case study, assignment instructions, Content readings, and external research, develop your Section II. Process Analysis. The case study tells you that the executives and employees at MTC have identified a need for an effective and efficient hiring system. As you review the case study, use the assignment instructions to take notes to assist in your analysis. As the stakeholders provide their needs and expectations to improve the process, identify steps that could be improved with the support of a hiring system. Also look for examples of issues and problems that can be improved with a technology solution.

Use the outline format, headings and tables provided and follow all formatting instructions below.

Begin with your Section I (Stage 1 assignment) and add Section II. Apply specific information from the case study to address each area along with relevant supporting research.

II. Process Analysis

Hiring Process

At the beginning of this section, write an introductory opening sentence for this section that addresses what the complete table provides. Refer to Week 3 and 4 content on processes and analyzing process improvements. Additional research can expand your knowledge of these areas.

The first step in analyzing the process is to document what the current process steps are and who is responsible for doing them. Therefore, the table provides the current steps in the manual hiring process provided by the case study. Remember, a process is a series of steps to perform a task; therefore, think about what the users are doing as part of the hiring process. Retain the as-is process steps provided; do not remove or revise these. Complete the second column by identifying the stakeholder responsible for this step based on the interviews in the MTC Case.

The next step is to identify how a hiring or applicant tracking systemcould improve each step in the process and how the business will benefit from that improvement. For each of the as-is process steps provided, complete the To-Be Process column in the table.indicating how this step in the process will be done using the hiring or applicant tracking system. For each process step, the statement should be concise and include an action verb and align with improving or replacing the current manual, as-is process step provided. Then complete the Business Benefits of the Improved Process column by explaining how this part of the process can contribute to the overall business strategy– think at a higher level than the specific process step. Review the examples provided in the Hiring Process table. For each to-be process step, identify the result of using the system, as shown in the two examples. While it is truethat the system will speed up each step of the process, think about how MTCwould benefit more strategically from using an automated system to perform that step.

The first row and last rows have been completed for you as an example and must be retained and not revised.Be sure your table contains a total of 12 steps. Use the examples to help you provide clear to-be process steps and business benefits. Your responses should be written in complete sentences.

More efficient offer process presents positive image to applicants and decreases time needed to prepare offer letter, and enablesMTC to hire in advance of the competition.

B. Expected Improvements – As noted in the case study, there are a lot of manual processes, overwhelming paperwork, difficulty scheduling interviews, etc. related to MTC’s current manual hiring process. A technology solution can address many of these issues. For each of the areas listed in the table below, provide an example of an issue from the case study and how a technology solution could be used to improve that area. Issues and improvements should be addressed in 1-2 clear, complete sentences with information incorporated from the case study. The first one is provided as an example.Note: This is not about the stakeholders’ wishes or expectations for the new system but identifying the current issues they have. Some may be explicitly stated in the interviews and for others you may need to apply some critical thinking. (Provide an introductory sentence and copy the table and insert information within.) For explanations of these areas, refer to Week 4 content on analyzing process improvements.Additional research can expand your knowledge of these areas.

The Hiring Manager states that recruiting is only one area he is responsible for and he isn’t as responsive to HR as he could be. Therefore, he counts on the Recruiters to help manage the process and keep him informed.

Current manual system causes considerable communication breakdowns and takes additional effort and time to stay on top of the hiring process.

An efficient system with all information in one place, easily accessible via a dashboard, and updated in real time could make his recruiting job easier; and he could devote time to effectively working collaboratively and proactively with HR on his staffing needs.

Communications: Explain how a hiring system could improve internal and external communications

Workflow: Explain how a hiring system could improve the MTC hiring process by providing a consistent structure for each participant to perform his/her part in the hiring process.

Relationships: Explain how implementing an enterprise hiring system could foster stronger relationships withapplicants/potential employees.

Formatting Your Assignment

Consider your audience – you are writing in the role of anMTC business analyst and your audience is MTC and your boss, the CIO. Don’t discuss MTC as if the reader has no knowledge of the organization. Use third person consistently throughout the report. In third person, the writer avoids the pronouns I, we, my, and ours. The third person is used to make the writing more objective by taking the individual, the “self,” out of the writing. This method is very helpful for effective business writing, a form in which facts, not opinion, drive the tone of the text. Writing in the third person allows the writer to come across as unbiased and thus more informed.

In Stage 2, you are preparing the second part of a 4-stage report. Use the structure, headings, and outline format provided here for your report. Use the numbering/lettering in the assignment instructions as shown below.

II. Process Analysis

Hiring Process

Expected Improvements

Begin with Section I, considering any feedback received, and add to it Section II.

Write a short concise paper: Use the recommendations provided in each area for length of response. It’s important to value quality over quantity. Section II should not exceed 3 pages.

Content areas should be double spaced; table entries should be single-spaced.

To copy a table: Move your cursor to the table, then click on the small box that appears at the upper left corner of the table to highlight the table; right click and COPY the table; put the cursor in your paper where you want the table and right click and PASTE the table.

Ensure that each of the tables is preceded by an introductory sentence that explains what is contained in the table, so the reader understands why the table has been included.

Continue to use thetitle pagecreated in Stage 1 that includes: The title of report, company name, your name, Course and Section Number, and date of this submission.

Use at least two resources with APA formatted citation and reference for this Stage 2 assignment. Use at least one external reference and one from the course content. Course content should be from the class reading content, not the assignment instructions or case study itself. For information on APA format, refer to Content>Course Resources>Writing Resources.

Add the references required for this assignment to the Reference Page. Additional research in the next stages will be added to this as you build the report. The final document should contain all references from all stages appropriately formatted and alphabetized.

Running headers are not required for this report.

Compare your work to the Grading Rubric below to be sure you have met content and quality criteria.

Submit your paper as a Word document, or a document that can be read in Word. Keep tables in Word format – do not paste in graphics.

Your submission should include your last name first in the filename:Lastname_firstname_Stage_2

Formulation

Hilton Worldwide is considered one of the global leaders in the field of hospitality as they hold at least 3800 pieces of property distributed across 88 countries. Most of these properties are owned by the Hilton corporation and therefore are managed by independent managers while others are franchise owned. The brand has its target on both travelers as well as corporate employees and in that case most of their property is strategically located to bring nab a good chunk of their potential clients. Service differentiation is regarded as one of the most significant strategies when it comes to the hotel business. Hilton Hotels in that case, make it their goal to ensure that the services that they offer to their clients are above average standards. Hilton Worldwide therefore have several strategies put in place to ensure that they remain competitive in the market even though there are some existing strategies that will no longer work.

Hilton has several direct competitors who include Starwood Hotels, Marriott Hotels, Choice Hotels International and also Intercontinental Hotels. With each of these hotels having more than 20% of the market share, it is clear that they all have their own strategies that they use to keep the competition going. The hospitality industry thrives in customer loyalty and that means that when a particular brand is loyal towards its customers, they are more likely to stay as opposed to shifting to other brands. To do this, Hilton Worldwide has the Hilton Honors program whereby they aim to build customer loyalty. Once guests have enrolled in the program, they get an opportunity to be part of travel rewards that allows them to have added revenue opportunities in the future. The program also makes sure that their guest experiences are enhanced. It is the desire of each guest to know that they are being taken care and the more Hilton shows this, the more its guests become satisfied.

In order to have a competitive edge over other bands in the market, one has to understand the ways in which they will compete for the advantage. The hospitality industry has a vast market with plenty of ideas to be explored. The main aim of the industry is to make sure that they have a diversified portfolio that they will be attractive to its customers. In that case, the corporations need to ask themselves different questions in relation to their services including who, what, why and later how. The question ‘who’ focuses on the customer segments in which they will be serving and that is reinforced with the next question that focuses on what the needs, wishes and desires of the customer are and the manner in which they will be satisfied. The other question involves having to understand why these needs have to be satisfied and, in most cases, it is in relation to the goals that the corporation needs to achieve. Once these has been determined, the final question emerges on how the needs will be satisfied.

There consists of two business strategies that can be used to strategically position a company. The initial strategy is the differentiation strategy that focuses to create a higher value for its customers compared to the other parties in the competition. This is done by ensuring that certain products and services with unique features are availed to potential customers keeping in mind that the costs are kept at the minimum. The other strategy involves creating similar value for customers. A cost leadership strategy involves delivering products and services to customers at a more efficient price which in that case is a low price. When prices are lower than that of your competitors, it is almost obvious that more clients will be attracted to the offers given by the corporation. Both strategies require different strategic positions which in turn increases the chances of a firm to gain competitive advantage over others. A proper business strategy in that case is more likely to lead to a competitive advantage which gives firms the opportunity to perform different activities than their rivals or perform similar activities differently.

The existing strategies that are being employed by Hilton Worldwide are more likely not to work in the current market anymore. This is because there are several improvements that are being made on a daily basis by other brands in the industry. This because most company brands focus on emulating other brands in the market instead of using different differential strategies. A company that makes use of a different differential strategy can achieve an advantage over its competitors as long as the value that they are creating is greater than the value their competitors have. the hospitality industry has an array of opportunities for each individual and therefore, there is enough room for competitors to focus on different strategies that better their brands. It is not uncommon, however, for companies to have strategies that have little or no value to them. In that case, when these strategies are employed, it is unlikely that they will serve their purpose.

The differentiation strategy aims to add unique features that will increase the value of goods and services offered to consumers. When consumers get to perceive that the value of the goods and services, they are interested in are higher, they will be willing to pay a higher amount for the product. Therefore, to make sure that the current strategies will work, the corporation needs to make sure that they infuse value to their strategies. Thereafter, they will have to come up with a way in which they will have control over the prices associated with their differential strategies. A company that is able to offer products and services that are differentiated at a controlled price will easily control the market share. This is because they will be offering quality product and service for a price that is considered appropriate by their customers. In that case, Hilton Hotels should ensure that they come up with differentiated strategies at a reasonable price that will be attractive in the market.

For a company to remain competitive, there are differentiated strategies need to be put in place. There consists of two business strategies that can be used to strategically position a company that include focusing to create a higher value for its customers compared to the other parties in the competition. The company could also make use of the cost leadership strategy that involves delivering products and services to customers at a more efficient price which in that case is a low price. Strategies that are not inclined to benefit the market by offering customers value services with at a reasonable price are most likely not to work. The differentiation strategy aims to add unique features that will increase the value of goods and services offered to consumers. When consumers get to perceive that the value of the goods and services, they are interested in are higher, they will be willing to pay a higher amount for the product.

GUIDELINES

Provide a ONE/TWO PAGE outline. This should provide a basic content of your topic.

Introduce the basics in terms that your classmates will understand.

Use examples to clarify points. This is difficult material.

Presentation should be informative and engaging.

Provide a Bibliography using APA style.

Basic Presentation Outline

When giving an oral presentation, it is a good idea to have an outline. An outline helps to:

ground you

keep you on topic

remember all of your main points

An effective outline is just that – an outline – not the entirety of what you want to say.

Points on an outline do not need to be whole sentences, instead use cue words that represent ideas. This way you can easily glance at your paper and know where you are in your presentation and where you want to go next. Each person should adapt their outline to match their presentation and train of thought.

Every presentation ought to have an introduction, a body consisting of main points and ideas, and a conclusion. This structure should be represented in your outline.

Use your introduction to greet your audience and tell them what you are about to cover.

The body of your presentation contains the bulk of your talk: your main ideas and supporting points.

The conclusion briefly restates your main point and concluding statements. Be sure to wrap up neatly, a nice way to do this is by thanking your audience.

(Always ask: What should we do concerning this issue and why? What are the philosophical, ethical, and conceptual questions which must be answered if this issue is to be resolved?)[supanova_question]
