TEMPO.CO, Pangkalpinang – The panel of judges at Pangkalpinang District Court handed a prison sentence on Arman Osi, a truck driver, who transported smuggled tin sand disguised in a box of pork meat from Belitung Island to Bangka Island. The spokesman for Pangkalpinang District Court, Wisnu Widodo, said that Arman Osi was legally and convincingly proven guilty of jointly transporting tin minerals without a mining permit holder.
“Imposing penalties on the defendant Arman Osi Bin Anwar Sadat with imprisonment for one year and a fine of Rp 10 million with the provision that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with a 5-month imprisonment,” said Wisnu to Tempo on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
Wisnu stated that the panel of judges also decided that the time Arman Osi spent under arrest and detention would be fully deducted from the imposed sentence. “Meanwhile, the evidence confiscated for the country consisted of 10.3 tons of tin sand, one truck with license plate BN 8231 WP along with registration and motor vehicle documents, and one blue Realme brand mobile phone,” he said.
Arman Osi underwent legal proceedings after being captured by members of the Water and Air Police Directorate (Ditpolairud) of the Bangka Belitung Regional Police on early Tuesday, June 11, 2024, around 02:00 AM WIB. Arman Osi carried a truck loaded with illegal tin sand and pork meat to Bangka Island from Tanjung Ru Belitung Port to Sadai Bangka Port.
Arman Osi, who could not present the complete documents for his goods, was arrested and detained. Meanwhile, the law did not touch the expedition boss and the tin owner. As for Arman Osi’s colleagues, Rais and Hariadi are still on the wanted list (DPO).
In the indictment by the Public Prosecutor presented by David Erikson Manalu and Irdo Nanto Rossi, the case began when Dulog offered Arman Osi to transport 10 tons of tin sand for a fee of Rp 15 million. Arman Osi then reported to the boss of the expedition company he was affiliated with, Sugianto alias Apo, to transport the tin sand cargo and was paid Rp 13.5 million.
Arman Osi asked his colleague Rais whether the tin sand shipment would be escorted by security forces, to which Rais replied that it would be. Arman Osi then asked Rais to transfer Rp 12.7 million to Sugianto alias Apo. The rest was taken for Arman Osi’s services as a driver and shared with his friends Agus and Rais for cigarette money as part of the order’s fee.
Just before departing from Tanjung Ru Port, Arman met Hariadi (DPO), who was in charge of the tin shipment. Arman accompanied them until they arrived at Bangka Island. However, during an inspection after the KM Menumbing Raya ship they were on arrived at Sadai Bangka Port, Hariadi allegedly fled, so only Arman Osi was arrested by the police.
