Using Analytic Techniques to Add Meaning to Data

Apple was established in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. Mac, iPad, iPod and Apple Watch are all made by Apple. Apple was formed to market Wozniak’s hand-built computer, Apple1. It had no display, keyboard, or case. The Apple II introduced the first color graphics to the computer industry. Apple continued to prosper throughout the 1980s, with its greatest earnings in 1990. (Podolny, & Hansen, 2020).

Steve chose to change Apple in 1996. He collaborated with Microsoft on a Mac version of its renowned Office program. This choice soon became a turning point for the firm. Jobs reinvented computers with the iBook (Kim et al., 2017). Mac, one of Apple’s products, is a major operating system rivaling Windows. Apple is also known for its watches and TVs. It has its own place. Apple has had a great financial run in recent years. In 2018, it was valued at $1 trillion. Apple is a technology company that designs and sells computers, smartphones, tablets, and music players. Market Realist cited brand strength, innovation, supply chain management, and a premium pricing approach as competitive advantages (Aljafari, 2016).

Apple faces competition in the desktop and laptop computer, smartphone, and entertainment technology industries from a diverse variety of peers and stakeholders. Dell, Lenovo, HP, Sony, ASUSTeK, and Samsung are the company’s primary competitors.

Apple’s mission statement states that the company’s goal is to “deliver the best personal computer products and service to people in over 140 countries.” This mission statement discusses how Apple Inc.’s potential is affected by the changing business landscape. For instance, the firm monitors the consumer electronics market and sector (Aljafari, 2016). Apple’s news releases and public statements emphasize this business objective as a means of resolving global market issues. Its goal statement is to “produce the best things on earth and to leave the planet in a better state than we found it.” Thus, the corporate objective aligns with Apple’s CSR strategy, which places a premium on sustainability, environmental conservation, and mitigating the company’s ecological impact (Aljafari, 2016).

Apple Inc. adheres to some of the best corporate mission statement conventions. For instance, the company objective defines the products, consumers, markets, and technology (Miller & Laurie, 2018). However, Apple’s mission statement might be enhanced. In an ideal world, the statement would include information about the company’s reputation and employees. Apple’s corporate aims at the moment are to achieve industry leadership and company sustainability. This may assist Apple in making their mission statement more operational (Aljafari, 2016).

The vision statement for Apple outlines the company’s future. It possesses some of the characteristics of an effective corporate vision statement. Apple’s corporate vision, for example, places a premium on innovation in product design and development, as well as commercial excellence (Miller & Laurie, 2018). Additionally, the vision statement is consistent, inspiring, and abstract. Apple’s vision statement should be more detailed in order to strengthen it. These facts may assist Apple employees in comprehending and implementing the company’s goal (Miller & Laurie, 2018).

Graphical Representation of Data

The figures below were obtained from the historical prices obtained from Yahoo.

Figure 1: Scatterplot of Apple’s Highest Price Vs time

The process of making the above chart: To obtain the data for the scatterplot, I selected the column which contained the date, pressed and held the control button, and then selected the button that contained the highest stock prices. Having selected the two columns, I went to the excel tabs and selected insert. From the insert tab, I went to the chart options and selected a scatterplot with high stock price on the Y-axis and date on the X-axis. After getting the chart, I edited it to include the axis titles, the chart title, and a trendline.

Figure Two: Scatterplot of Apple’s Lowest Stock Price Against Time

The process: to obtain the data for the scatterplot, I selected the column which contained the date, pressed and held the control button, and then selected the button that contained the lowest stock prices. Having selected the two columns, I went to the excel tabs and selected insert. From the insert tab, I went to the chart options and selected a scatterplot with high stock price on the Y-axis and date on the X-axis. After getting the chart, I edited it to include the axis titles, the chart title, and a trendline.

Figure 3: Histogram of Apple’s Adjusted daily Closing stock

To obtain the chart above, I selected the column that contained the adjusted daily closing stock. Having selected this column, I went to the excel tabs and selected insert. From the insert tab, I went to chart options and selected histogram, the first option. After obtaining my histogram, I edited it to include the chart title, and the axes titles. I also changed the color from blue to orange for attraction.

Figure 4: histogram of Apple’s Stock Trading Volume

The process used to obtain the chart: To obtain the chart above, I selected the column that contained the stock trading volume. Having selected this column, I went to the excel tabs and selected insert. From the insert tab, I went to chart options and selected histogram, the first option. After obtaining my histogram, I edited it to include the chart title, and the axes titles. I also changed the color from blue to green for the attraction.

Summary

In the current data-rich age, the ability to understand how to analyze and obtain meaning from data is invaluable. In spite of the colossal volume of data created daily, a mere 0.5% is actually evaluated and used for business improvement and intelligence. The main aim of this assignment was to apply analytical approaches to add meaning to data. From the scatterplots obtained (both for low and high stock prices), there is an increasing trend. This shows the speed at which Apple is growing. As a business grows at a faster rate, investors are attracted to its stocks – they purchase the stocks at a higher price. Whenever the supply of stock is kept constant and its demand increases, the prices shoot up. The histograms also show that there has been an increase in stock volumes due to the increase in stock prices.

Additionally, other descriptive statistics were computed to show how the firm has developed in terms of stock. Standard deviation is the most critical of these. The standard deviation is a statistical term that refers to the degree of market volatility (Harvey et al., 2018). It indicates the degree to which prices deviate from the mean. When prices are traded within a small trading range, the standard deviation is small, suggesting minimal volatility. The adjusted daily closing stock price had a standard deviation of 10.09 in this case. This demonstrates a lack of volatility.

View the Assessment Topic Areas media piece and select one of the health care problems or issues in the media piece to research. Write a brief overview of the selected topic. In your overview:

Summarize the health care problem or issue.

Describe your interest in the topic.

Describe any professional experience you have with this topic.

Identify peer-reviewed articles relevant to health care issue or problem.

Conduct a search for scholarly or academic peer-reviewed literature related to the topic and describe the criteria you used to search for articles, including the names of the databases you used. You will select four current scholarly or academic peer-reviewed journal articles published during the past 3–5 years that relate to your topic.

You will want to access the applicable Undergraduate Library Research Guide related to your degree (found at the NHS Learner Success Lab) for tips to help you in your search.

Use keywords related to the health care problem or issue you are researching to select relevant articles.

Assess the credibility and explain relevance of the information sources you find.

Determine if the source is from an academic peer-reviewed journal.

Determine if the publication is current.

Determine if information in the academic peer-reviewed journal article is still relevant.

Analyze academic peer-reviewed journal articles using the annotated bibliography organizational format. Provide rationale for inclusion of each selected article. The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to document a list of references along with key information about each one. The detail about the reference is the annotation. Developing this annotated bibliography will create a foundation of knowledge about the selected topic. In your annotated bibliography:

Identify the purpose of the article.

Summarize the information.

Provide rationale for inclusion of each article.

Include the conclusions and findings of the article.

Write your annotated bibliography in a paragraph form. The annotated bibliography should be approximately 150 words (1–3 paragraphs) in length.

List the full reference for the source in APA format (author, date, title, publisher, et cetera) and use APA format for the annotated bibliography.

Make sure the references are listed in alphabetical order, are double-spaced, and use hanging indents.

Summarize what you have learned from developing an annotated bibliography.

Summarize what you learned from your research in a separate paragraph or two at the end of the paper.

Task information

Task detail

Case Scenario

Historical practices have created a great deal of distrust within Indigenous peoples with regard to the use of hospitals (Best, 2014). Healthcare in Australia is a predominately Westernised system that is permeated by the social norms and expectations defined by white culture (Nielson, 2010). The nursing profession is clearly entrenched in the biomedical model as a by-product of the colonisation process (Best, 2014). Explore how a Primary Health Care approach can facilitate improved health outcomes for Indigenous people within the health care setting. Cultural safety is a key strategy for reducing inequalities in healthcare for Indigenous people.

Assignment Task

Discuss the likely barriers to accessing health care for Indigenous Australians from both historical and contemporary perspectives. Consideration may be given to, but not limited to language, cultural worldviews and values, spirituality, traditional healing practices and beliefs, and workplace diversity.

Identify the principles of Primary Health Care and discuss how they are applied within Aboriginal Medical Services, specific health care settings (Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Sector)

Critically discuss inclusive practice strategies to promote access to quality health care for Australia’s Indigenous people
