How can you apply concepts and ideas from psychoanalytic theory to help you make sense of Margaret and Ms. A? Consider how Freud would view their personalities, their mental health problems, their relationships, etc. Consider these hints:

1. How might their personality traits connect with psychosexual stages of development?

2. What evidence do you see of defense mechanisms they are using?

How might present symptoms and issues relate to unconscious (libidinal) drives? [supanova_question]

In 2018 Elon Musk agreed to pay a $20 million dollar fine

In 2018 Elon Musk agreed to pay a $20 million dollar fine and step down as chairman of Tesla.  He did so without admitting or denying the allegations against him.  The SEC complaint was based on a tweet by Musk.  I’ve included one video regarding this but there are many other news stories online regarding this case that you may want to view.

https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Securities+law&&view=detail&mid=6B42C40FFECAA0DB0B556B42C40FFECAA0DB0B55&&FORM=VRDGAR (Links to an external site.)

Do you believe Musk’s tweet violated SEC law?  If so, do you believe the punishment was appropriate?  Do you believe violations of SEC law should involve possible jail time?  If you believe he didn’t violate SEC law explain why?  What would he have had to have done to violate SEC law?

Your reply (225 words)

Please post at least one short comment agreeing or disagreeing with regard to one of your classmate posts and why

Classmate 1 : Since Musk tweeted about a potential transaction that he knew was uncertain and lacked of adequate basis in fact as it has not been discussed with advisors and lawyers yet, he has violated SEC’s 10b-5 rule which is intended to protect investors from misstatement of material facts. This materially false statement has harmed Tesla investors as market reacted and stock price surged more than 10% after the tweet went out.

On the company’s end, Tesla has failed to have required disclosure control, which should have been in place to determine that Musk’s tweets are complete, accurate, and contained material information before releasing it. This costed the company a $20 million penalty in addition to Elon Musk’s $20 million penalty.

I believe the $20 million fine and Elon Musk stepping down from his position as a chairman in Tesla is appropriate because this way it will prevent such occurrences from happening in the future and individuals can be more careful in what they disclose to the public if the information they want to share can potentially be misleading, incomplete, or even false. I think it is fair that both Musk and Tesla had to pay a penalty because both of them has violated SEC’s law.

Individual Assignment Task

Introduction to Assessment

This assessment is designed to extend participants’ previously acquired knowledge of flight dynamics through work in class and coursework 1. Base data for the aircraft in Assessment CW1 may be used, except for any speeds and height data, that will be used in this assessment. Participants will further develop their knowledge and understanding of advanced methods of computer modelling, simulation and flight testing and apply knowledge and skills in a selected flight dynamics topic in order to assess the performance and handling qualities of a fixed wing aircraft and compare model vs experimental data.

Description

This is an individual assessment for a given aircraft. Each student will analyse BOTH of the following modes/conditions for the given aircraft:

Longitudinal and Lateral/Directional Stability (SPPO, Spiral, Dutch Roll, Roll subsidence Mode), including the transfer function descriptions of the modes, any approximations used. See report structure for more detail.

For ALL topics, each student is required to:-

Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant theory

Reflect the Data Pertiment to Cessna52 in the appropriate data file, Incorporate CessnaLonSC.m and CessnaLATSC.m script files into one file. Predict the Longitudinal and Lateral Behaviour, and comment on the Dynamics.

Analyse given flight test data provided in the file FlightTestDataSummary.xls using Excel/Matlab, and obtain the damping, frequency and Time Constants associated with lateral modes (ONLY).

Compare theoretical predictions of the Lateral modes and compare them with experimental (flight test) trends/results for the Lateral Dynamics. For the Longitudinal Dynamics Predict the Theoretical Short Period and Phugoid Characteristics and comment on the suitability/accuracy of the numbers, and the handling qualities.

The MATLAB Code for Cessna182 Lateral and Longitudinal Dynamics is Provided. Alter the Appropriate Constants to reflect the Geometry and Aerodynamic Characteristics of Cessna 152, and obtain the Analytical Responses, as well as the State Space Models/transfer functions, Eigenvalues, in order to assess the performance and handling qualities.

The assessment of this assignment is based upon a written technical report that outlines the findings of the performance and handling qualities assessment, including critical discussion.

The technical report should include clearly defined in text citations and references and be clearly numbered. Matlab scripts in text format should be annotated clearly and included in the report Appendix. Flight Test results should be presented in graphical form using Matlab.

The submission via AULA/Turnitin should be in two parts:-

Part 1 – Technical Report plus Appendices (submit in MS Word format) Submitted to Resit Report Link ion Aula

Part 2 – Matlab script(s), submit as zipped ‘M-files’ Submitted to Resit Matlab Link on Aula
