The Role of American Government on the Environment

The article from the liberal learning sources related to the module

focus is titled  “Congress Is Debating Its Biggest Climate Change Bill Ever. Here’s

What’s At Stake,” written by (Brady, 2021). NPR was choose to find the article

related to climate change. This article presents the views of the liberal party of

Congress.

The first article presents the point of view of liberals in which the author has discussed the debate over the biggest climate change bill. The bill presented by President Joe Biden regarding climate change can become a reality if Congress passes this bill of $3.5 trillion budget. The bill requires extraordinary changes in the energy sector and the key element of this bill is the Clean Energy Performance Program CEPP. The role of environmental organizations is critical to solving the issues of climate change.

The second article I choose for this study is “Conservatives and the climate change inflection point,” written by (Grande, 2021). The second article presents the views of conservatives and the climate change inflection point. The conservatives said that in a world that consumes more energy, clean energy problems could not be solved by the new United States Green New Deal Approach. Rather, we need to strengthen cooperation with our allies and use existing coalitions to implement a common and simultaneous strategy.

I agree with the points presented by both parties; they have provided their own valid points. It is a high requirement to pass a high-budgeted bill for environmental issues as these issues are on the rise. But the budget of $3.5 trillion is huge, to which I disagree at some point. I also agree with the point of view presented by conservatives that we need to strengthen cooperation with our allies and use existing coalitions to implement a common and simultaneous strategy for clean energy problems.

Congress and the presidency on the environment

. The article chosen from the approved liberal learning sources is “Biden says climate fears are well-founded but touts progress at the U.N. summit”, written by (Naylor, 2021) and published in NPR. This article presents the point of view of the liberal party of Congress. But in this module, the focus is on the point of view of Congress and the Presidency. This article is chosen because it discusses the point of view of the President, Joe Biden.

The first article discusses the concern shown by Biden for the climate change issues. Biden said that the U.S. is committed to reducing greenhouse emissions because we want to breathe and lead the world. Biden also has confidence in Congress that it will pass some $500 billion in spending related to climate efforts. Biden is an optimist about the climate change efforts of the U.S. It is the liberal point of view that they are looking for more budget for climate change efforts. In the second article, the GOP senators have called the Biden climate efforts as hypocrisy. The conservatives from the Congress bashed out at Biden that he fell asleep during the climate speech despite claiming that climate change is the major threat to U.S. security. The GOP senators brought attention to the Biden administration that are being hypocrisies on the climate change issues.

The second article chosen is from the approved conservative learning sources, which is “GOP senators call out Biden climate ‘hypocrisy,’ demand tally of emissions to transport officials to Glasgow”, written by (Laco, 2021) and it is published in the Fox News. This article also discusses the issue of climate change and how conservatives view the perspectives of the President.

I agree with the points presented by the conservatives because the government is showing efforts for climate change but not to the required extent. There is a requirement of huge efforts for climate change, and the budget for climate change should be used solely for this purpose. It is high time that climate change issues should be considered seriously rather than maintaining conflicts among political parties.

I chose that particular topic because I am concerned about environmental issues. I am worried about how government and other agencies will overcome these issues. Climate change is the major issue among environmental issues. It is important to study and to understand that why the climate is changing and what we are doing to deal with this problem. We have to be prepared for the future. The climate study helps us to predict the weather and changes in the climate, so we should be prepared for future change. Global warming is increasing day by day, and the government needs to take control of this issue. There should be a significant budget that should be solely present for this particular issue.

Climate change is impacting health in different ways. For example, breathing issues related to lung or respiratory issues are due to air pollution, and air pollution is increasing due to climate change. There are different food and water-borne illnesses that are increasing due to extreme weather conditions and changes in the climate. Therefore, it is important to study it and to research that how the government is working on this issue.

I was already familiar with the climate change issue, but I wanted to learn that how the government is planning to reduce the issues caused by climate change. Therefore, I wanted to study the point of view of both liberals and conservatives. I am looking forward to a positive solution for this issue and how the government and people will work together to bring the best solution for this issue.

The Bureaucracy and judiciary on climate changes

Public bureaucracies and the judiciary inexorably have a critical role in governing global challenges. Such challenges include climate change. Climate change has necessitated development of pacts, such as the Kyoto Protocol in an attempt to combat the forthcoming menace associated with climate change. Public bureaucracies are involved in the integration of climate change adaptation policies. Contrariwise, the judiciary helps in implementing these policies.

The Kyoto Protocol is an accord formulated by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the main target of the accord is to achieve steadiness of the concentration of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide in the atmosphere at levels that would preclude hazardous ecologic meddling with the climatic systems leading to global warming. The article The U.S. Badly Needs to Build Credibility in the Fight Against ClimateChange from liberal source CNN and China Urges the U.S. to Sign Kyoto Protocol from conservative source Fox News talk about the stance of the United States government on climate change and related political accords, such as the Kyoto Protocol.

To begin with, the article The U.S. Badly Needs to Build Credibility in the Fight Against Climate Change states that the United States government has previously ditched the climate pacts, such as the Kyoto Protocol twice. President George w. Bush and Donald Trump both argued that the accord compromised the economy of the United States in comparison to that of rivals, such as China and Russia (Collinson & Hu, 2021). The article China Urges U.S. to Sign Kyoto Protocolstates that China, a major polluter, has urged the United States government to sign the Kyoto Protocol insisting that the accord is not unsound (Press, 2015).

The liberal media viewpoint is that the United States government is justified in refusing to join the pact. This is attributed to the speculated economic downfall and dwindling job opportunities that would be associated with signing the pact. The conservative media viewpoint is that the United States government ought to sign the pact as it is not flawed as thought. The tone in the article China Urges U.S. to Sign Kyoto Protocol is suggestive that the Kyoto Protocol would be beneficial. In my opinion, the liberal media viewpoint that the Kyoto Protocol will have devastating effects on the United States economy is right and justified.
